Family Savings Calculator
Estimate household savings when one or more people quit or reduce a costly habit.
How much could quitting add to your family budget?
Enter the household's combined daily smoking cost to see the amount that could stay in the family budget. The result shows weekly, monthly, annual, and longer-term estimates in your selected currency.
Household savings formula
Annual family savings = combined daily smoking cost × 365. If two adults spend 8 each per day, enter 16: that is about 112 per week and 5,840 per year. If only one person is quitting, enter only that person's cost. The calculator does not assume future tobacco price rises or interest earned.
Give the total a job
Choose where the former smoking money should go: groceries, bills, debt, an emergency fund, education, or a shared experience. A named purpose makes the result more useful than an abstract total. Use What Could I Buy? to compare a specific purchase or My Quit Journey to keep tracking.
Frequently asked questions
Should I include more than one smoker?
Yes, if you want a household total. Add each person's daily cost together before entering it.
Is monthly savings daily cost times 30?
The displayed monthly figure is an estimate based on the calculator's stated period; actual calendar months vary in length.
Does quitting automatically create savings?
Only if the spending stops or is redirected. The calculator shows potential savings, not account balances.
